Arteta: No Rush on Lacazette’s Contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that there is no need to rush in the case of Alexandre Lacazette regarding his contract extension – but he will be definitely having a discussion with the player once the things have been settled down.

He joined the club on 2017 from Lyon and signed a five year deal with the club. He still has two years left in his contract as there isn’t any need to speed up the process of extension. Whereas in the case of Bukayo Saka and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, the decisions needs to be taken with sudden action as it regards their future at Arsenal.

David Luiz expresses desire to retire at Benfica

David Luiz had discussed with Benfica on regardingthe return to the club in this summer transfer window. As per the reports of Goal,his contract with Arsenal will come to an end in June and the club is having discussions on whether extending the contract for another year. In August, he was transferred to Gunners from Chelsea for £8 million and he has appeared in 32 games for the club in all competitions.

Under the former coach Unai Emery and the current coach Mikel Arteta, he was included in the first team and was able to solve some of the issues in the defence line of the team. The defender has shown interest in moving to Benfica and wants to spend time there before he decides to pull off the final stop of his career. Gael Clichy has commented that Arsenal has improved on scoring goals but is still lacking it in defence as they have not improved in conceding the goals. He points out that Arsenal has not fully recovered from the problems that have surfaced during the Arsene Wenger’s time.

Arsenal still interested in Atletico’s Partey

Arsenal has been interested in signing a deal with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey. But the agent of Partey has denied there has been no discussion among the player and the English club. His father Jacob Partey was glad of his son having an opportunity to move to the English side. He in a talk with the radio-based radio told that he has called upon his son to confirm Arsenal’s interest on him.

He confirmed the news and said both the clubs are having discussions. He also told that the deal completely depends upon the offer Atletico is demanding. He will very much be glad if his son moves to Arsenal who has a lot of supporters in Ghana.

Aubameyang, with twelve months of his contract left, has not yet committed to any new deals with Arsenal. Former player, Paul Merson, said that he should opt to stay in Arsenal where he is player of utmost importance. If his decision is to transfer to other bigger clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool, it will not be good for his career.

Aubameyang insists he is ‘really happy’ at Arsenal

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has indicated that he is ‘really happy’ at Arsenal amid the constant speculation over his future. The 30-year-old has enjoyed another top campaign with the Gunners where he has contributed 20 goals in all competitions and 17 of those have come in the Premier League.

His performances have helped the Gunners remain in contention for a possible European spot next season but there are still doubts regarding his future. Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have registered an interest in Rangers left back Borna Barisic, with the North London rivals set to battle it out for the talented youngster. Spurs will make a move for the £22 million rated defender in the summer as they prepare for the imminent departure of Jan Vertonghen, whilst the Gunners are hoping to reshape their squad around players like Barisic.

Hargreaves: Ceballos the new Fabregas

Former Manchester United ace Owen Hargreaves has said that Daniel Ceballos has similar traits to ex-Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniard has endured a mixed campaign with the Gunners on loan this season but he has earned a regular run of matches following the club’s return from the winter break.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Hargreaves said that Ceballos has similarities to Fabregas in the style of play, although he tends to struggle against teams where he can’t have much of the ball. He said: “He’s a flair player, he’s like Cesc [Fabregas], not as good, but like Cesc. The performances where he was brilliant was against Burnley, where Burnley don’t have much of the ball, and Newcastle, who also don’t have much of the ball. But he went to Anfield and really struggled because of the intensity of the game. Arteta’s done a good job in finding the perfect blend in the right game.”

Hector Bellerin says Arsenal are on the right path under Mikel Arteta

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has said that the Gunners are moving on the right path under manager Mikel Arteta and believes the club will find their goalscoring touch sooner rather than later. The Spanish head coach has made the Gunners difficult to beat over the past month but that has somewhat reduced their effectiveness on the other end of the field.

As a result, they have drawn more than 50 percent of the games under Arteta but Bellerin insists that there has been a big change in the attitude of the players from the Unai Emery reign, he told: “Mikel has always been very tactical in his work and in his whole life, he’s very professional with very clear ideas. It’s very early doors in time. [Mikel] has a new philosophy and the way he has implemented it in the last few games that we’ve played, there’s been a big change. When you see that you’re playing better and controlling games better, the goals are something that’s going to come. I’m sure you’re going to see that very quickly.”

Alan Smith backs Mikel Arteta for the head coach role at Arsenal

Arsenal legend Alan Smith has said that the Gunners have made a bold move to land the signature of Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard has been linked with a return to the Emirates in a managerial capacity since last month and reports have emerged that he could pen a three-and-a-half year contract in the next 24 hours.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Smith believes the recruitment of Arteta would be an exciting and bold move, given he has been a huge influence on the Manchester City in an assistant capacity, he told: “From the outset I thought that he would be the most exciting, the boldest choice as an innovative young coach that can put on really good sessions and that transfers to the pitch. Obviously, he’s had a huge influence from [Pep] Guardiola up at Manchester City. He takes a lot of the sessions and Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have both credited him with improving their game.”
