Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that he had tried to pursue Jadon Sancho from Manchester City. The teenager was heavily linked with the north London side during the summer of 2017 but the Citizens rather decided to offload him overseas with Borussia Dortmund acquiring his signature.
In a report covered by Sky Sports News, Wenger has admitted that the Gunners were in the race to sign the 18-year-old in his final season in charge of the club but they could not find the breakthrough in terms of the negotiations, he said: “I wanted to take him from Man City when he didn’t get the games. I tried to lure him because he’s from London. I tried to get him to Arsenal. He’s one of the best players of his generation. He can dribble, he has the arrogance. There’s something in there that is part of the big players. You can call it arrogance, confidence, belief; but it has to be there.”
