Can Leicester Keep their Cool?

Claudio Ranieri believes his boys need to keep their cool despite having had a huge success in the English Premiership. Leicester upset the Spurs on Sunday to go top in the standings and they are now starting to be seen as one of the favourites for the title.

But, according to Ranieri, it’s only January. So, the season has a long way to go and the Foxes must not get too excited. Ranieri has had different targets at different stages in the ongoing season.

In the summer, he had said that he was looking for a total 40 points to make sure his team stays clear off the drop zone and now, when he has comfortably reached that number with almost half of the season remaining, his next target is to double it up.

Speaking after the Tottenham match, Ranieri said, “It was good on us to finish 2015 with thirty nine points. We would be looking to add forty more in the remaining time and get the total to seventy nine.”

“I can’t say whether it would be sufficient to clinch the title. People have been talking what Leicester has in store for the rest of the season and where they would find themselves at the end. Frankly speaking, I have got no idea. We just have to keep it up and see where it goes.”

Leicester play Liverpool next at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday, whilst Arsenal will also next be in action in the Premier League on Tuesday, when they face Southampton – tickets are still available click here if you’re interested in watching what should be a fantastic match! Arsenal also play on Saturday against Burnley in the FA Cup.

Ranieri also acknowledged the fact that Leicester is not dependable on the superstar players only and the others are stepping up to the plate as well. In the words of the boss, “We’ve had contributions coming from everyone and it’s been the most positive thing for us this season. It has built our confidence as a team.”
